Enslaved Individuals: Edmund

Edmund

Documented History

Edmund was a resident of Page County, Virginia, in 1845; he is named as one of seven people enslaved by Daniel Strickler in papers related to Strickler’s estate. It is almost certain that he was a skilled agricultural worker. He was sold to Charles H. Flinn in June 1845.

Speculations

Edmund is referred to as a man in the documents related to Daniel Strickler’s estate, but the monetary value assigned to him is low, suggesting that he may have been older than the other adults who were listed. Although Flinn remained resident in Page County in 1850, and five enslaved people were associated with him in the census that year, no men were listed under his household.

Connections

Andrew, Arthur, Mary, Mary Louisa, Sarah, and Rebecca were enslaved along with Edmund in the household of Daniel Strickler as of 1845.
